Composer for sale

In the summer of 2019, musicologist Thiemo Wind discovered something weird. He discovered a portrait, painted by Heinrich Martin Krabbé on the website of an auctioneer. Thiemo immediately recognised the portrait of Jan van Gilse, composer and co-founder of Buma, the Dutch organisation for composers' copyrights. It turned out the portrait had been sold when Buma moved office. Apparently noone saw the value of this piece of cultural heritage. Read the full story (in Dutch) in De Volkskrant.
