Pál Hermann Ensemble in MuziekHaven
The young Hungarian Pál Hermann Ensemble comes to Amsterdam and plays two concerts at De MuziekHaven in Zaandam. They will play works by the persecuted Hungarian-Dutch composer Pál Hermann, after whom the trio takes its name. The programme also includes Elegiaque by György Justus (1898-1945) and the 1944 Piano Trio No.2 of Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975).
The trio consists of Ágnes Langer (violin), Barnabás Baranyai (cello) and Ádám Menyhei (piano) and was founded in 2017 during the International Holland Music Sessions in Bergen (NH). There, the young musicians met Corrie Hermann. Through her they came into contact with the music of composer Pál Hermann, Corrie's father. Touched by the music and affected by the cruel fate of Pál Hermann, a victim of the Holocaust, the musicians decide to play this repertoire more often: the Pál Hermann Ensemble came into being. The musicians have studied together in Budapest at the Ferenc Liszt Academy, where also Pál Hermann completed his studies in cello and composition 100 years earlier.
Start concerts at 17:00 and 20:00
